Vanille the Cocker spaniel

About Vanille

Vanille is a beautiful, 6 and a half year old cocker spaniel, who spent her life to date producing puppies in a commercial breeding facility.

She is a shy girl, but is quickly blossoming and coming to enjoy life as a family dog. Within days, she went from frightened and withdrawn to smiling up at people and flipping over for belly rubs. Such a delightful change! Her foster family is now addicted to making her little back end wiggle with happiness, and you would be too!

At first, she wouldn’t take walks, as she didn’t understand their purpose. She still only eliminates in the yard, but is coming to enjoy walks as an adventure and she now comes along enthusiastically. Which is good, because she had pups not that long ago and needs to keep active to lose that “baby weight”.

She has been clean in the house from the start, too! When she comes in from the yard, she stops and sits in front of the person who let her in, looking at them until she gets some pets and attention. After a few rubs and maybe a kiss on the head, she is off again into the house to find a cozy spot to lay down.

She is spayed and microchipped and ready to find her forever (and first!!) home. If you think you can give Vanille the loving home she never knew was out there, please apply. Only the right match will be contacted.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen.
