Tyson the Labrador- Mastiff

About Tyson

Tyson is a big, solid 8 month old lab mix with lots of energy. He is sweet and very friendly but lacks in doggy manners and because he is built like a tank, he can accidentally hurt someone by easily knocking them over. He needs serious work on walking on a leash, not plowing past people when going down stairs, going through a door or going past you when walking in narrow spaces. He also has trouble containing his excitement when someone comes home and will jump and claw at you. So an experienced handler is the best human companion for him. Obedience school would a requirement to his adoption.

At this stage, Tyson is not ready to be left for long hours. He has lots of pent up energy and can be quite a handful. A family that can spend lots of time working on obedience and exercise is the best and ideal situation for Tyson in making him a good canine citizen and setting him up for success. At his foster home, Tyson is spending many hours exercising. So if you think you may be the right family for him, please fill out an application.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen. Max

Max was flown to Montreal to save his life and relieve his pain as he was very painful after being hit. Max was hit by a snowmobile in the North. There are no vets in the far North to treat a dog so the owners do what they can for the dogs. On arrival at our vets, they found that he had fractured bones in his foot. He was not neutered yet either. So Max was neutered and a cast was put on his leg which will remain from 4 to 6 weeks. Donations again have helped save Max as in the North he would not have received any medical care.
