About Loulou

Loulou was 1 of the six pups who arrived at Rosie! 2 have found homes! They are receiving treatment for Lice. Lice is contagious to other dogs so any dog in the new home must receive 2 months of Revolution treatment. Humans and cats do not catch Lice. 3 days after arrival - Pups developped Parvo. All survived!! But they are still contagious for the 3 weeks after initial diagnosis - they cannot be walked or go to obedience school. New homes will be off limits for 6 months as parvo stays in the environment for 6 mos. So any unvaccinated dog or dog with not a good history of vaccines cannot visit your home with their dog. Anyone wishing to adopt a pup must prove that their present dog has a good history of DAPP vaccines. These pups are learning to be housebroken. They are sweet and lovable. They could cry at night for a few nights. As they are so young they cannot be alone in a cage all day. They will need obedience school and lots of socialisation when the next 2 weeks are over. Only the right match will be contacted. Pls do not message the Facebook group concerning these pups.

This organization is run entirely by volunteers and we try our best to save as many homeless dogs as possible. Since there are only a few volunteers, please understand that we are unable to answer phone calls about the animals. The first step is to fill out an adoption application which you can find at: www.rosieanimaladoption.org . You will be contacted only if you are a suitable match. Rosie Animal Adoption does not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. All showings are by appointment after your application has been approved, or at adoption clinics. If you have any questions, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). All family members must be present at time of adoption. Please note, we do not adopt strays to families with children under 12.

Adoptions

If you adopt from Rosie, your dog will be vet checked, vaccinated for DHPP and Rabies (if the dog is over 4 months), given a treatment for fleas and parasites as well as spayed or neutered before adoption. Our adoption fee is $400 and $300 for dogs of 8 years old and older.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen.
