Laika the Collie-Labrador-x

About Laika

Laika could be called "Pretty Lady" as she is stunning. Laika is a beautiful 9 month old Collie-Labrador-x who was given up because there was a change in the family situation.. She was originally purchased from a farm. She is a great med size dog. Clean in the house. She has lived with children above 12. She is great with other dogs. She can be timid in new situations but has shown no aggression at all. She will require grooming for sure. Plan on brushing her a lot and having her professionally groomed every 2 -3 months. She is a striking looking dog but she must go to the family who will be the right match for her. Now she needs a home where she will live all her life.

Laika would need another dog in her home as she LOVES playing with other dogs. Laika has lots of energy so will need positive obedience and exercise.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen. Help Jasmine Heal

Help Jasmine Heal!!! Jasmine the Shepherd mix was found alone and injured. She had probably been hit by a car. But, it wasn't a recent injury...... she had been roaming the country side for quite a while in pain. Jasmine is all of 4 months. Jasmine was brought to animal shelter where she was treated for pain and xrayed. After the 3 day holding time, she was released to Rosie Animal Adoption. Our fist thought was: Jasmine deserves four feet to walk on but after an attempt at DMV, Dorval to surgically fix her leg, her injuries were too serious - her leg needed to be amputated..... She had not been using the back leg already so it wasn't hard for her to learn to walk on 3 legs. She is on cage for the next 2 weeks and then will be available for foster to adopt. We offer foster to adopt when a dog is not spayed or neutered. Once the dog is spayed or neutered, we fill out an adoption agreement. Jasmine has received her first vaccine and has been dewormed. All in all she is a true sweetheart! We know many supporters have already sent us donations but if you feel you can help us with Jasmine's medical bill, pls consider donating to Rosie in Jasmine's name.
