Dorothy the Husky/Lab mix

About Dorothy

Hello friends! My name is Dorothy, I’m the cutest 12 week old puppy. My foster family thinks I have a lot of husky in me because I howl and talk like one. I will need a detached home because I’m noisy. I’m also very stubborn but with some patience and training I am learning very fast. I am very high energy and will need an active family who will be consistent with my training. I love other dogs but will chase cats if they run.

Other facts:
doing well with crate training however will need to continue to work with it
Food motivated
Going through a puppy Biting stage but is easily redirected to toys

100% will need positive obedience training - this is a must to adopt Dorothy as she likes to play bite! Until she arrived at Rosie she was never told not to.

This organization is run entirely by volunteers and we try our best to save as many homeless dogs as possible. Since there are only a few volunteers, please understand that we are unable to answer phone calls about the animals. The first step is to fill out an adoption application which you can find at: www.rosieanimaladoption.org . You will be contacted only if you are a suitable match. Rosie Animal Adoption does not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. All showings are by appointment after your application has been approved, or at adoption clinics. If you have any questions, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). All family members must be present at time of adoption. Please note, we do not adopt strays to families with children under 12.

Adoptions

If you adopt from Rosie, your dog will be vet checked, vaccinated for DHPP and Rabies (if the dog is over 4 months), given a treatment for fleas and parasites as well as spayed or neutered before adoption. Our adoption fee is $450 and $350 for dogs of 9 years old and older.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen. Chase

Meet 1 yr old Northern dog Chase! Chase was surrendered by owner after receiving an injury to his eye while outside. The owner was not sure what caused the injury, as Chase is a free roaming dog. Shortly after, he began to lose hair around an open wound on his chest (possible skin condition). His owner realized that they were not able to provide Chase with the environment he needed and surrendered him to rescue to receive the care he very much needed. Chase is presently at Pierrefonds Animal Hospital. We may not be able to save his eye and he is presently on antibiotics for injury as well as being treated for Demodex. He must stay at Pierrefonds Animal Hospital till he can be vaccinated.
