Cherry the Cocker

About Cherry

Cherry is a cute chocolate coloured cocker spaniel puppy. She is very affectionate and would live her life on your lap if she could, and at only 7.5 kg., she is certainly appropriately sized to be a lap dog. Cherry is full of fun, loves to play with toys, loves to run around outside, loves to play fetch, and brings the ball back faithfully.

Cherry is a very clever dog and is easily picking up her basic obedience commands. She comes when called, and is working on her house breaking. She is paper trained inside the house, and is learning to do her business outside, but hasn’t yet quite made that connection that she should only do her business outside. But with longer, warmer days upon us, it will be easy to complete this training. Cherry happily sleeps in her crate at night, and remains clean for the night. Cherry is still a puppy, so she needs supervision. She views everything as a toy, especially shoes, so consider yourself warned! As with all puppies, she would benefit from attending obedience classes with her family. This would also be a good way to continue her socialization; a necessity for all dogs.

Cherry gets along very well with our dog, who is literally five times her size. I think Cherry would do well with any sized canine companion, but also could be an only dog for an owner committed to providing her with the stimulation and exercise she needs. She is a really lovely companion, easy and amusing to live with.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen.
