This organization is run entirely by volunteers and we try our best to save as many homeless dogs as possible. Since there are only a few volunteers, please understand that we are unable to answer phone calls about the animals. The first step is to fill out an adoption application which you can find at: www.rosieanimaladoption.org . You will be contacted only if you are a suitable match. Rosie Animal Adoption does not have a shelter where you can come and meet the dogs. All showings are by appointment after your application has been approved, or at adoption clinics. If you have any questions, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). All family members must be present at time of adoption. Please note, we do not adopt strays to families with children under 12.

R.A.A. does not guarantee the breed or the temperament of the dog listed in this contract. Breed listing and description is based on R.A.A.'s own experience with the dog. The information indicated is what we have personally evaluated as to breed and temperament of this dog while under our care. We are not responsible for wrongly labeling a breed. As to an error in temperament, understand that we have evaluated the dog to the best of our knowledge and this is not an exact science. If any concerns, we strongly encourage you to contact a professional third party for temperament evaluation. Please fill out an application if you think that you can offer Kitties a forever home.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen. Rosie Needs Your Financial Help to Heal Faith

On July 28th, 2010, Faith a beautiful 1-1/2 yr old female yellow lab-x came into Rosie's care. Faith was flown into Montreal from a Northern community by a good samaritan as she needed surgery as soon as possible or her life was going to be ended. Her eye was ''hanging'', her ear was cut and during her spay - it was found that she was at the beginning of a pregnancy. Dr. Lawlor and Dr. Dicks of Pierrefonds Animal Hospital performed the surgery. The enucleation of the eye was done, her ear was sutured and she was spayed. Faith arrived with a collar to which was attached a rigid electrical wire. She was obviously a chained dog and this wire could have damaged her eye..... All we know is that this was caused by trauma. Saving Faith has come to a great expense to Rosie - pls help Rosie with her medical bill.

This year we have had exceptionally high veterinary expenses due to a number of unexpected events. The main items have been four major surgeries and treatment of dogs who have been surrendered to us with parvo. These are obviously expenses over and above the normal costs of making sure we provide healthy dogs for adoption.

These are dogs who would not have had a second chance if Rosie had not stepped in to care for them, which is why we took them on, but we cannot sustain these costs without help.

We want to continue to help these "last chance dogs", please support us so we can save more of these unfortunate dogs.
