Cashew the Lab-husky mix

About Cashew

Cashew is a very engaging 5 month old Northern puppy who is very friendly and happy go lucky. Unfortunately he had a rough start to his rescue, within 48 hours of being in his foster home he became ill and it was discovered that he was infected with CPV, commonly known as Parvo. Luckily he has recovered and is back with his foster showing no negative effects from his bout with a potentially fatal virus. He is ready to go to his new home on a "foster to adopt" basis as he will only be neutered in about 4 weeks. For the next 2 weeks he will need to be kept away from dogs that have not been vaccinated as his stools will still be contagious and will need to be picked up. He has been staying with his fosters dogs, all of whom are vaccinated and completely unaffected.

Like most of the Northern dogs Cashew is very eager to bond with humans and extremely affectionate. He is crate trained and just about house trained (no accidents when let out frequently). He has already learned to sit when asked and give his paw, obedience training will go very well with him. Good with other dogs, untested with cats.

Surrenders

Here at Rosie Animal Adoption, we understand that the decision to give up a family pet is not always an easy one and that the dog's best interests are always of paramount importance. Whether you have a family pet or a stray to surrender, please be aware that there are many unscrupulous people who are always on the lookout for unaltered dogs to breed strictly for profit. Dogs kept for this purpose, be it by a “backyard breeder” or “puppy miller,” are usually kept in inhumane conditions that are worse than you can imagine. We get many calls from people who are “in a hurry” to re-home their dogs, claiming that they simply cannot wait. With the increasing number of homeless dogs in the province of Quebec , our resources are always stretched to the limit and we do not always have immediate openings. We would ask that you please be patient when contacting our volunteers to surrender a dog.

We will do our best to help you as quickly as we can, and may also be able to refer you to another group that we are affiliated with, but the most important message here is to proceed very cautiously if you are giving away or selling your dog to someone who may be portraying a private individual. The best thing you can do is to be sure to have your pet spayed or neutered and the worse thing you can do is offer an unaltered pet “free to a good home.” We have seen what can happen. Cashew the Northern dog

Cashew a Northern dog arrived at Rosie to find a great home! But within a few days the vomiting and diarrhea started! Cashew was diagnosed with Parvo. Only 50% of Parvo cases are saved! Because of fast intervention and good care he was a lucky one! The care that a Parvo dog requires is very expensive. How do we keep saving these sick dogs? With the help of donators like You! Please consider donating to Rosie to help pay Cashew’s medical bill as well as help us save more dogs like Cashew! We thank all our donators from the bottom of our hearts!
